Youth Football

The Pipeline Starts Here

Batavia Youth Football (BYF) is a non-profit teaching kids football fundamentals, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Founded in 2003 by former BHS coaches Mike Gaspari and Dennis Piron, BYF is affiliated with the Batavia Park District and USA Football — guiding 1st–8th graders from touch to flag to tackle, all the way to Bulldog Stadium.

1–2Touch · Fundamentals & equal play
3–6Flag · Skills, rules & teamwork
7–8Tackle · At Bulldog Stadium
9–12High School · Fresh / Soph / JV / Varsity
Program Structure & Season
  • Grades 1–2 · Touch: basic skills with equal playing time.
  • Grades 3–6 · Flag: skill development, rules, and teamwork.
  • Grades 7–8 · Tackle: practice and play at Batavia High School’s Bulldog Stadium. Since 2019, BYF runs the 8th-grade program (previously Rotolo Middle School) for a seamless transition to high school.
  • Season: typically mid-August through late October, with an early-September opener and “Under the Lights” games at Bulldog Stadium.
  • Multi-sport friendly: BYF encourages playing other activities during the season for a balanced experience.
Philosophy & Features
  • Equal opportunity: equal playing time and exposure to multiple positions — no early specialization by size or skill.
  • Community focus: aligned with the BHS football vision, preparing players for the Bulldogs’ varsity program.
  • Camps: the BAAF Jr. Bulldog Football Camp (grades 1–8) is a 26-year tradition; the Bulldog Football Camp (grades 9–12) covers offense, defense, 7v7, and lineman challenges at Bulldog Stadium with gear provided.
  • Facilities: 7th- and 8th-grade practices and games are held at Bulldog Stadium, deepening the high-school connection.
More Ways to Play
  • NFL FLAG (Park District): a low-contact league by OTA Chicagoland for ages 6–13 — passing, catching, and defense — with an NFL jersey, playbook access, and gear discounts.
  • Volunteers & funding: BYF runs on volunteer coaches and is funded by registration fees, local sponsors, and donations — with no government funding.
